Who’s the real Hans Tanzler? A political committee contends than Tanzler is no conservative.
The evidence?
Insider deals. Political contributions to Democrats and Charlie Crist. A high-priced lawyer play acting as a cowboy.
These are the charges the latest salvo from “Conservatives United,” a committee backing John Rutherford in the race for the GOP nomination in Florida’s 4th Congressional District, levied against “liberal insider” Hans Tanzler in its latest spot.
The committee committed $50,000 to a media buy in this last week of early voting, as the group looks to drive up Tanzler’s negatives as the campaign closes.
“Conservatives United had an early mail program to celebrate the genuine conservatism of Sheriff Rutherford. John spent 4 decades working to keep Northeast Florida families safe. In the final stretch, because Hans Tanzler has distorted and lied about the Sheriff’s record, Conservatives United [opted] to tell the community the truth about Tanzler,” asserted committee spokesman Brian Hughes.
The ad lampoons Tanzler’s cowboy gimmick from a previous ad, using hokey cowboy movie music, and superimposing the now iconic image of Tanzler on horseback onto an old style television, before making its substantive arguments that Tanzler strikes an outsider pose but prefers the insider game.
