Florida Democrats are launching their first TV ad backing Jose Javier Rodriguez in Senate District 37.
The ad — a 30-second spot called “Restore” — features Rodriguez talking about his commitment to the people of Miami. In the ad, Rodriguez says “for too long well-connected special interests have had their way.”
“I’m fighting to change that,” he says in the advertisement. “I’ve taken on the power companies, and we won. Now I’m fighting rate hikes that will hurt families and small businesses. And I’ll fight to restore public school funding and stop for-profit corporations from profiting at our children’s expense.”
Rodriguez continues: “Families are done paying while special interests rig the system. I’ll always take them on and put people first.”
Rodriguez faces Republican Miguel Diaz de la Portilla in the November general election.
“Rep. Jose Javier Rodriguez is the definition of what it means to be a public servant. Whether its fighting for lower utility rates to protect consumers or advocating on behalf of our public schoolchildren and teachers, throughout his professional career, Rep. Rodriguez has always put giving back to his community first,” said Anders Croy, the deputy communications director for Senate Victory. “The people of State Senate District 37 deserve a senator dedicated to protecting their rights, not another career politician who has spent his career consistently serving the special interests.”
