Mike Pence will address Florida Republicans in October.
The Republican Party of Florida announced Wednesday that Pence, the Republican vice presidential nominee and the governor of Indiana, is scheduled to speak at the 2016 Victory Dinner Oct. 15 at the Hilton Downtown Tampa.
“We eagerly await the powerful conservative message of victory to more than 1,000 of the most influential Republicans in the state of Florida who are ready to deliver this state to Mr. Trump,”said RPOF Chairman Blaise Ingoglia in a statement. “And we look forward to Pence’s steadfast leadership address at such an important time for Florida’s and this nation’s history.”
The dinner is scheduled for just a few weeks before the Nov. 8 presidential election. Florida will be key to winning the White House, and both Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton — and their respective campaigns — have made several swings through the Sunshine State in recent weeks.
Recent polls show the race in Florida is close, and the most recent RealClearPolitics polling average shows the race is essentially tied.
“Gov. Mike Pence is a proven conservative leader who has spent his career advocating for solutions to strengthen our families, our economy and our country,” said Susie Wiles, the co-chairwoman of Trump’s campaign in Florida, in a statement. “Florida welcomes that message and we look forward to his Trump rally-call come October.”
