Sen. Marco Rubio will be taking the stage at the 2016 Republican Party of Florida’s “Victory Dinner.”
The state GOP announced Tuesday Rubio will speak at the annual event. Rubio, who is running for re-election, will join Indiana Gov. Mike Pence, the Republican vice presidential nominee, in addressing the gathering.
“I am honored by the opportunity to speak at this year’s Republican Party of Florida Victory Dinner,” said Rubio in a statement. “As we near the end of this election cycle, it is more important than ever that we continue to connect with voters and spread the conservative message. I look forward to joining the hardworking grassroots activists in pushing for a promising future for Florida and our nation.”
The event is scheduled for Oct. 15, just a few weeks before the Nov. 8 general election. Florida’s U.S. Senate race is one of the most closely watched races this election cycle, with many saying it could help determine control of the U.S. Senate.
“The Republican Party of Florida is looking forward to hosting Sen. Marco Rubio at this year’s Victory Dinner,” said Blaise Ingoglia, a state lawmaker and chairman of the Florida GOP. “As a strong conservative leader for the Sunshine State and the United States, Mr. Rubio has stood boldly for pro-economic growth and limited government policies. We anticipate his encouraging message of victory for the most influential swing state in the nation.”
Rubio faces Democratic Rep. Patrick Murphy in November.
The event will be held at the Hilton Downtown Tampa.
