VP debate watch parties planned in Clay, Duval Counties

Jacksonville area Republicans and Democrats who want to turn Tuesday evening’s debate between major party vice presidential candidates into a social event are in luck.

Debate parties are planned in support of both campaigns.

GOP candidate Mike Pence was last in Jacksonville in September at First Baptist Church, where he discussed “precious moments” with Donald Trump.

Pence’s party starts at 8:30, and will be at a familiar GOP hangout: the Players’ Grille, at 4456 Hendricks Ave.

The party for Democratic candidate Tim Kaine has a dash of star power: it will be hosted by former Ambassador Nancy Soderberg, a University of North Florida professor who was an important part of the foreign policy firmament in the Bill Clinton administration.

Kaine festivities kick off at 8 p.m, at 868 Blanding Blvd. Suite 124 in Orange Park … just across the Duval/Clay line.
