Floridians aren’t fans of trial attorneys.
A Florida Chamber Political Institute statewide poll released last week found 35 percent of Floridians said they had an unfavorable view of plaintiff trial lawyers.
The survey — conducted Sept. 15 through Sept. 20 — found 14 percent had a favorable opinion of trial attorneys, while 24 percent said they had “never heard of” them. The survey had a margin of error of 4 percent.
That number is up slightly from a Florida Chamber survey released in August, which found 34 percent of respondents had an unfavorable view of plaintiff trial attorneys, while 15 percent said they had a favorable view. That poll found 27 percent of those polled said they never heard of them.
Trial attorneys are big donors to the political process, and records show the Florida Justice PAC, the political arm of the Florida Justice Association, has given more than $91,000 to political committees and candidates since 2013.
