Barack Obama should pack them in at UNF arena in Jacksonville Thursday

In what has to be considered a surprise given the bigger venues in the Jacksonville area, President Barack Obama‘s speech in Jacksonville Thursday on behalf of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will be at the 6,300-seat University of North Florida Arena.

The event begins at 1:30 p.m., with doors opening at noon. RSVPs from the public can be made here.

“President Obama will urge Floridians to take advantage of early voting and lay out his support for Clinton and her vision of an America that is stronger together, with an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top,” asserts the Clinton campaign.

The choice of a smaller arena on a university campus seems designed to create a capacity crowd, especially in light of President Obama’s drawing power.

On Nov. 3 2008, President Obama filled the Veterans Memorial Arena, which holds 15,000.

Months before that, he packed 20,000 into Metropolitan Park in downtown Jacksonville.

Despite the small venue, the event undoubtedly will have a big impact, allowing the Clinton campaign to win a local news cycle as early voting heads toward its Sunday peak.
