Valerie Wickboldt bids farewell to the conservative James Madison Institute and joins the state’s Department of Revenue as communications director.
“It is an honor to have the opportunity to work with the many talented and dedicated public servants at the Florida Department of Revenue. The Department’s values of character and performance align with me personally,”she said in an email. “I look forward to joining the leadership team and furthering the Department’s history of excellence in serving the people of Florida.”
Wickboldt announced the move in an email Thursday. She was JMI’s vice president of communications, having been with the Tallahassee think tank for four years.
“We’ve done some essential work on a variety of public policy issues and we have grown the network around Florida,” she said. “Through my time at JMI, I’ve met some wonderful people who deeply care about Florida’s families and the state’s economic future. I’m very fortunate to have had this experience.”
Wickboldt also has been director of communications and development at CoreMessage, Inc. and communications director for the Boys & Girls Club of Big Bend. She graduated from Florida State University.
Wickboldt will remain in Tallahassee with her husband and two sons.
