Al Lawson, John Rutherford diverge on Presidential address to Congress
Separate ways on Impeachment.

Jacksonville’s two-man Congressional delegation, Reps. Al Lawson and John Rutherford, messaged to their respective bases in the wake of Tuesday night’s Presidential address to Congress.

Democrat Lawson excoriated President Donald Trump as a “leader who is alienating Americans instead of bringing people together” and someone who delivers a “bunch of broken promises.”

“Forty days after his inauguration, we still have yet to see President Trump and the Republican Congress lift a finger to create jobs or help hard-working Americans … Trump and his administration are in a hurry to repeal the Affordable Care Act even if it makes America sick again and leaves 30 million people without life-saving health insurance,” Lawson mused.

Republican Rutherford was more sanguine about the Tuesday night address.

The President “gave an optimistic vision of the next four years that puts Americans first,” Rutherford said.

“I look forward to helping advance the priorities that will be most helpful to Northeast Florida, including rebuilding the military, investing in infrastructure, prioritizing the safety of our citizens, replacing Obamacare, and fulfilling our commitments to veterans,” Rutherford said.

Rep. Rutherford, you canned rhetoric is growing troubling. What is the alterative plan if the ACA is repealed. Do you agree that the constitution should be followed to ” keep America safe” and dealing with undocumented people. Please address the Russian interference in the election and being former law enforcement, I’m sure you will vote for an independent investigation. The president clearly violated ethical regulations with the China trademark… Do you job.

You can prove a worthy Representative if you think outside the box of Trump’s Tea Party base, “Gordon Norquist” GOP loyalty oath’s, and canned “Heritage Foundation” legislative templates. Make a real difference for the future of an open, middle class society of pragmatic, problem solving people.

Representative Lawson, thank you for pointing out that Trump’s first days in office have been spent with the wrecking ball, not the architects. 50 years of progress representing everything from clean water to human rights are being slashed to ribbons by the pen of petulant child.
Thank you for taking a stand.

Mr Rutherford, parroting statements of insanity expressed by a sexual predator and narcissistic dictator may be good for your career, but it’s doing irreparable damage to your country and constituents.
It’s time to be honest about what’s actually happening in the White House. The time for marionettes has long passed. It’s time to cut the strings.

Rutherford talk to your constituents and then follow though. No more platitudes! You know what it is like on the streets. Do something to make it better
