Winter Park Republican Stockton Reeves lent his campaign $90,000 in August, putting him almost even with Orlando Democrat Anna Eskamani in campaign funds in the race for Florida House District 47.
Campaign finance reports filed with the Florida Division of Elections show Reeves raised just $3,020 since entering the race on the last day of July. Including his own, he received nine contributions.
Eskamani, by contrast, started her campaign in early July and raised $53,000 that month and another $48,000 in August, including in-kind contributions. She finished August with $101,570, on more than 700 contributions. She had earlier reported her campaign going over the $100,000 mark last week.
Both candidates seek to succeed Republican state Rep. Mike Miller, who is running for Congress rather than re-election in the swing district.
