The top agency for volunteerism in the state announced Monday that it is awarding $286,000 in federal funding to 22 nonprofits and service organizations across the state.

“Our grantees will put volunteers to work providing education opportunities, helping job-seekers find employment, and teaching financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship to Floridians,” said Vivian Myrtetus, the CEO for Volunteer Florida.

Each organization is set to receive a $13,000 grant, which they will match with local investments. The money is expected to help the organizations get skills-based volunteers to better serve their communities.

The program gave special consideration to organizations that were involved in disaster relief services and organizations that work to reduce or prevent prescription drug or opioid abuse.

Here is a list of 2017 Volunteer Grant Fund grantees.

It’s a pathetic pittance for all the work that the state government & legislature has dumped on Florida’s Non-Profit Sector!

$268K…….Much less than Corcoran & Scott have given in corporate tax breaks and millions less than they take in their PAC’s! Shame shame shame……… what about $268M
