Republican David Smith has won the endorsement of the Oviedo Professional Firefighters Local 3476 in his quest to be elected to the Florida House of Representatives in House District 28, representing eastern Seminole County.
Smith, a business consultant from Winter Springs, received a unanimous vote from the union’s board, and a letter from Local 3476 President David Barsky stating, “Thank you again for your dedication to our first responders, and we are proud to announce our support,” according to an announcement from Smith’s campaign.
He seeks to succeed Republican incumbent state Rep. Jason Brodeur. He faces Democrat Lee Mangold, a Casselberry cyber security consultant, in the race.
The firefighters also made a $500 donation to Smith’s campaign.
“I’m very proud to have earned the endorsement of these local heroes,” declared Smith, a retired U.S. Marine Corps colonel.
