Pro Rick Scott Super PAC’s $2.4M ad buy slams Bill Nelson as career politician

Nelson ad

The “New Republican” Super PAC, which is supportive of Gov. Rick Scott‘s campaign for Senate, rolled out a $2.4 million ad buy Thursday.

The ad will run statewide starting May 7 and will run in this buy until May 24.

The spot focuses on Sen. Bill Nelson’s decades in public office, “earning millions for doing so little,” urging that voters “term limit Bill Nelson.”

The spot combines Gov. Scott’s campaign trail enthusiasm for term limits with a tacit acknowledgement of another point: Nelson being the primary sponsor of just 10 bills that passed in his 30 years in Congress.

Nelson’s campaign disputes the claims in the ad.

“This is nothing but a baseless, Rick Scott Super PAC attack trying to distract from his record of putting himself first at the expense of Floridians. Rick Scott got rich ripping off Medicare and his company paid a $1.7 billion Medicare fraud fine. Then, he used the governor’s office to get $46 million richer, ripping off taxpayers again. Bill Nelson has spent his time as a public servant fighting for Floridians,” asserted Senate campaign manager Marley Wilkes Thursday.
