Jeb Bush plans to release a massive 250,000 e-mails in a new e-book covering his time as Florida governor — the strongest indication to date he is seriously considering a presidential run.
In an interview aired Sunday on ABC Miami affiliate WPLG-TV, Bush intends to “make up my mind in short order” about a White House run in 2016.
“One of the things I am going to do as I go through this process,” Bush told Glenna Milberg of WPLG, “is release all of my e-mails and write an e-book, which has been kind of fun to go back and to think about this.
As an early adopter of technology, Bush earned a reputation as a high-volume e-mailer.
Bush said the correspondence reminds him that when you “run with big ideas and then you’re true to those ideas, and get a chance to serve and implement them and do it with passion and conviction, you can move the needle.”
“That’s what we need right now in America,” he added.
E-mails would be made public sometime next year, he said, and releasing them would be in the interest of “transparency” to let people “make up their mind.”
“I was digital before digital was cool I guess,” he said in an interview aired on “This Week in South Florida with Michael Putney.”
“There’s some funny ones,” he reminisced, “some sad ones, there’s some serious ones.”
