Al Ferraro, a first-term Republican on the Jacksonville City Council, stretched his cash lead in his re-election bid in the latest campaign finance reports released Friday.
Ferraro, through Jan. 25, has raised over $80,000, with roughly $51,000 on hand. The candidate raised $6,700 between Jan. 12 and 25 (the two weeks immediately after qualifying ended).
Contained within that most recent haul: maximum contributions from both the Jacksonville Fraternal Order of Police and the Jacksonville Association of Fire Fighters.
These public safety donations are remarkable, given that Ferraro’s opponent (Democrat Carson Tranquille) is a former police chief.
Tranquille has nearly $19,000 on hand, with $4,825 of that raised in the most recent reporting period.
The two men are the only candidates in plurality Republican District 2, and their race will be decided in the March election.

I don’t know why anyone would vote for someone like Ron Salem… he is so self centered.. obnoxious and just plain nasty! This man should be ashamed of himself for how he treats people! I almost passed out when I found out he was running! Jacksonville does not need him!
