The service will be in Ruby Diamond Concert Hall.

Florida State University President Emeritus Talbot “Sandy” D’Alemberte will be remembered by family and friends with visitation and a memorial service at the school.

The memorial service will take place Wednesday, June 5 at 2 p.m. in Ruby Diamond Concert Hall, 222 S. Copeland St, Tallahassee.

Visitation will take place 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, at the D’Alemberte Rotunda, FSU College of Law, 425 W. Jefferson St., also in Tallahassee.

Described as a “brilliant legal mind and international champion of human rights,” D’Alemberte died Monday at the age of 85.

He served as president of Florida State 1994-2003, dean of the College of Law 1984-89, and as a law professor for much of his career.

He also served in the Florida House of Representatives 1966-72, chaired the 1977-78 Florida Constitution Revision Commission, and completed a term as president of the American Bar Association (ABA) in 1991-92.

He received the ABA Medal, the association’s highest honor, in 2003.

The school asks news media who intend to cover the memorial service to RSVP to Dennis Schnittker (dschnitt@fsu.edu) or Amy Farnum-Patronis (afarnumpatronis@fsu.edu) by noon Tuesday, June 4.
