Former Rays pitcher Seth McClung arrested on domestic battery charge

Seth McClung, a former Tampa Bay Rays player and current baseball coach at St. Petersburg’s Keswick Christian School, was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge.

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff’s arrest report, McClung was booked at 12:41 a.m. Monday and held on $500 bond. He was released at 7:04 p.m. the same day.

A right-handed pitcher, McClung played for the Rays from 2003-06 and for the Brewers from 2007-09. He compiled a 26-34 record with a 5.46 ERA and 1.24 K/BB ratio in 177 games.

Although he attempted a comeback in 2012, McClung posted a 6.35 ERA over 119 innings in Triple-A with the Brewers and Cubs.

McClung was in his first year as head coach of Keswick Crusaders baseball team and were 10-3 before Tuesday’s game against West High School of Knoxville, Tennessee. Before going to Keswick in April, McClung coached girls’ basketball for two seasons at Pinellas Park and two more at Osceola high schools.
