Add Andrea Tovar to the powerhouse Corcoran Partners lobbying team.

Two years after joining the firm to support its South Florida operations, Tovar has risen to the role of lobbyist. She will be taking on a full roster of clients ahead of the 2020 Legislative Session.

“Andrea has impeccable character and a strong work ethic, which transforms into success in any walk of life,” said Michael Corcoran, the firm’s founding partner. “It is going to be exciting to watch Andrea grow in this business, and we are blessed she chose Corcoran Partners as her home.”

Tovar started at Corcoran Partners in 2017 to do marketing and business development in South Florida. Tovar said she was brought on to “support and help service … South Florida clients and expand the firm’s relationship and network in South Florida.”

“It’s been a perfect fit,” she added.

The decision to get into government relations came after more than a decade in the hospitality industry. After graduating cum laude from Florida International University with a degree in hospitality management, Tovar joined Turnberry Associates as then-chairman and CEO Jeffrey Soffer’s executive assistant. After spending several years in the role, she shifted into a marketing and public relations position for Fontainebleau Miami Beach.

“Andrea is a tremendous person with the utmost integrity. Andrea was a huge asset to our family of companies for over a decade and in just a short period of time has done the same for Mike and the entire Corcoran Partners team,” said Soffer, the chairman and CEO of Fontainebleau Development. “I’m thankful we have been able to continue to use Andrea’s vast knowledge of our businesses and know great things are in store for Andrea, Mike, Jessie, and the entire Corcoran Partners family.”

Tovar’s background in marketing, communications, and the hospitality industries makes her uniquely qualified to take her new role. She describes her time in the hospitality industry as teaching her the importance of focusing on the customer and driving results; marketing and public relations experience allowed her to develop the skills to “communicate clearly, accurately, honestly and consistently in a strategic and disciplined manner.”

“What I most enjoyed about hospitality, and love about Corcoran Partners, is connecting with people and building strong, long-term relationships,” Tovar said.

That background will serve her well as she takes on a diverse roster of clients, including Fontainebleau, the Central Florida Expressway Authority, the Florida Aquarium and Gulfstream Park.

“I’ve been involved behind the scenes in scheduling, monitoring, research, communications and marketing, and I’m excited about now being on the front-facing side of the firm in Tallahassee,” she said.

“Mike and (Jessica Corcoran) are strong believers in developing talent, not hiring someone due to a certain relationship they have at the moment,” she continued. “I’m grateful to have been given the opportunity to learn the business inside and out and have seen that model work extraordinarily well for Corcoran Partners and their clients.”

Currently based in Miami, Tovar is married with two, four-legged children. She serves on the Board of Governors for the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce and is a volunteer for the Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative.
