Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida endorses Paul Renner in HD 24

An outpouring of support for Republican candidate Paul Renner continued today with the Associated Builders and Contractors of Florida (ABC) endorsing his special election campaign for House District 24.

Renner, an attorney and Jacksonville native, is seeking to replace state Rep. Travis Hutson, who is vacating the District 24 seat to run in the Senate District 6 special election.

“Paul shares our vision of free enterprise, reasonable regulation and keeping Florida’s taxes low,” said First Coast ABC President Karin Tucker in a statement issued Friday. “Paul’s record of service and leadership is admirable. He is very qualified for a seat in the Legislature.”

ABC Florida legislative counsel Rick Watson added that Renner shares the group’s vision on market-based principles, as the commercial construction industry remains one of the top economic drivers in the state.

“We share many of the same values concerning a free and competitive marketplace, which will help the First Coast’s economy grow and thrive,” Renner said. “I pledge to continue to fight for those values if elected.”

ABC is only the latest high-profile group supporting Renner in his bid for HD 24, which includes endorsements from the National Rifle Association (NRA) and the Unified Sportsmen of Florida, as well as that of former House Speaker Will Weatherford.

Renner faces Sheamus McNeeley, Ron Sanchez and Danielle Anderson in the GOP primary set for Jan. 27. The winner will face Democrat Adam Morley on April 7. District 24 includes Flagler County and parts of St. Johns and Volusia counties.
