Northeast Florida Association of Realtors endorse Curry for Jax Mayor

Endorsements are flying fast and furious in the Jacksonville Mayoral Race, and Lenny Curry today scored a pivotal one — that of the politically active and influential Northeast Florida Association of Realtors, whose Board of Directors voted today to formally endorse Curry well ahead of the March 24th election.

“As a small business owner, Lenny Curry understands the importance of a successful real estate market to the economy. Lenny has the experience and leadership Jacksonville needs to ensure that its working families can achieve the American Dream of homeownership,” NEFAR President Sally Suslak asserted. “We look forward to his leadership bringing quality jobs, developing positive growth and advancing quality of life for Jacksonville homeowners.”

Curry recognized the importance of the endorsement.

“Realtors serve on the front line of economic development. They help families pursue the dream of making a place home, and they work with small business owners to build a path to success. I am proud to have earned their support, and I look forward to working with our Realtors to bring a brighter future to Jacksonville,” Curry stated.

The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors offers myriad services, including professional development, political advocacy, professional standards administration, media relations, and promotional activities for real estate professionals in northeast Florida, as it serves the public through efforts to protect private property rights and community affairs programs. NEFAR is Northeast Florida’s largest professional association, comprising more than 6,000 members working in all facets of the real estate industry, including residential and commercial sales as well as property management.

Befitting an association of its size and regional prominence, NEFAR typically endorses candidates it perceives to be in sync with its professional mission — often, across party lines, as was the case with endorsements of Reggie Fullwood and Mia Jones for the Florida Legislature in 2014. Four years ago, NEFAR endorsed Mike Hogan in the Jacksonville Mayoral Race in early February. As with this endorsement, it was well ahead of the general election, anticipating Hogan making the runoff — which he did, only to lose by less than 1700 votes to Alvin Brown.
