Chamber Forum speaker on AI: ‘You just have to commit to it’

Entrepreneur Matt Higgins says Florida can lead the nation in AI.

Matt Higgins, an author and entrepreneur who has appeared on Shark Tank, says Florida has an opportunity to become a top state in the use of artificial intelligence.

Higgins said during the 2023 Future of Florida forum that “Florida has an opportunity to dominate AI … you just have to commit to it.”

Higgins is a co-founder and CEO of RSE Ventures, a private investment firm that focuses on several areas including sports, media and technology. During his remarks, he noted how some countries and states have ramped up their efforts to prepare for AI.

He acknowledged that he does not know how the current administration of Gov. Ron DeSantis views the world of AI, but he added that Florida “needs to mirror the behavior” of other governments interested in the technology “to attract the private sector.”

“My overall message for everybody in this room is … you really have a unique position to become the home,” Higgins said.

Higgins comments come at a time when there are rumblings in Washington about whether the federal government should take a more active role regulating the use of AI. There are some states that have begun to look at the topic.

The National Conference of State Legislatures said 25 states, along with Puerto Rico and the District of Columbia, introduced artificial intelligence bills. The legislative efforts that passed led to the creation of advisory panels and studies.

Connecticut required an inventory of all systems that employ AI and are being used by state agencies. That same legislation also required that the review ensure AI did not lead to unlawful discrimination or a disparate impact.

No bills regarding AI have been introduced as of yet ahead of the 2024 Session of the Legislature.

A large contingent of voters suggest that some outside source of intelligence could be useful.
As DullSSantis degrades the college and university system this can only get worse.

We are responsible for carrying out every task. Many of the thousands of visitors we currently receive each day come to see us on the same day because we offer them so many options. Come see us to start working from home and make bs05 money without having to invest anything.

ÀI development for NASA should be very important. Risking humans is crazy until missions are “milk runs.” Let AI rovers and craft do the exploring. The theoretical dangers of uncontrollabe AI are also eliminated if it sits in circuits on Mars.
