Henry Kelley: Liberals were lied to about the benefits of Obamacare

A funny thing happened in Jan 2013.  A Dr. Jonathan Gruber of MIT (now an “unperson” at the White House and Democrats who knew him so well), appeared via Skype at the Florida Senate Select Committee on Patient Protection and the Affordable Care Act committee.

I wrote at the time in a Florida Voices column, “Dr. Jonathan Gruber, one of the authors of both “RomneyCare” and “ObamaCare”, admitted to the Florida Senate that neither program was designed to save money or change the cost curve.  Yes, the Cato Institute did a splendid job of explaining the problems here, but when the author of the bill says it will not change the cost curve, maybe we should listen to that guy.”

That was before he presented the “fact” that “seniors do a terrible job choosing” their health-care options.

Of course, I was pelted with the usual leftist taunts of “racism” and “teabaggery” and the usual assortment of epithets from the “tolerant” left.

Flash forward to today.  The few, and there are very few, leftists trying to defend Obamacare for the lies used to get past super Democratic majorities in the House and Senate, are still somehow trying to blame “angry” conservatives.  Let me set the record straight — we aren’t angry over the Gruber revelations.

We knew this all along.  I’m afraid, my liberal friends, it was YOU who were lied to, and you vehemently still defend the lie.  It’s how we felt after the Medicare Part D was passed by Republicans.  We didn’t sign up for that, and yet somehow the Republicans passed it.

Yet here’s the difference, and the results showed up in an election held two weeks ago.  Conservatives demanded better of Republicans in 2009.  But instead of trying to embrace those of us who rebelled against the Republican establishment, the Democrats pretty much insulted us back into the Republican Party fold.

Only we started taking over the county chair positions and setting about cleaning our own house.

Sure, at this point you are probably still laughing at us.  Please do so.  It will make 2016 so much easier.  But it’s time for the Democrats to take a serious look at the road President Obama has put them on.

I was willing to criticize President Bush in 2006 when he left the conservative reservation.  I doubt there are Democrats willing to do the same to Obama because they fear being called a racist.

Gruber is the reason we don’t trust “experts” on much of anything.  We look around at our community and set about in the fashion designed in the Constitution to fix it.  Just remember, if you have to use lies to pass a bill for “our own good,” don’t be surprised when we persist to battle Obamacare.

We were right about the ACA in 2010, and we are still right today.
