School chaplains proposal continues push through Legislature

Bible
There are minor differences between Senate, House bills, but both are making progress.

The three Rs (readin’, writin’, and ‘rithmetic) are slated to have a new addition soon in public schools: religion.

That’s the case if a proposal to allow volunteer chaplains in schools continues to advance, and it seems to have momentum both in the Senate and House.

The Senate legislation (SB 1044) is slated to be heard in Tuesday morning’s Appropriations Committee on Education.

That bill, sponsored by Sen. Erin Grall, would “authorize volunteer school chaplains to provide supports, services, and programs to students as assigned by the district school board or charter school governing board.”

Boards would have to determine to which programs and services chaplains would be assigned, would have to inform parents that chaplains be informed, and would have to get parental consent before chaplains interacted with students.

“Parents must be permitted to select a volunteer school chaplain from the list provided by the school district, which must include the chaplain’s religious affiliation, if any,” the bill reads, noting that the list must be published on the district website.

Meanwhile, as the Senate version moves through committees, a similar House bill is headed for Wednesday’s Special Order calendar. That bill includes a requirement for school boards to set up their volunteer chaplain program by the end of 2024, but otherwise is the same as the Senate bill.

Breaking Nooze out of Tallahassee: After screaming “No indoctrination in the schools!” for the last six years or so, Republicans have now decided to put “chaplains” in the schools.
    Nothing to see here.

Authorities in south Florida are searching for a gang of horse rustlers who stole and slaughtered three animals for meat, including one used in therapy sessions for children with autism and cognitive disabilities.

The horses were taken from a remote area of Redland, near Homestead, and their carcasses were discovered on Friday by officers from the Miami-Dade police department’s agricultural and environmental crimes section.

Thanks for the Crime Stopper Tip on that Horse Rustlers Gang which Current President 8iden welcomed in our Southern Borders.
I’m speaking with The Ronald now about putting our Cowboy Gear on and leading a Posse of Sage Patriots to Round Up Those Horse Rustlers and hold them in a Florida Prison until Ron And I *Earl Pitts American* take The White House. At that time we will transfer The Horse Rustlers down to Gitmo for 5 years of waterboarding and administering electric shock therapy to their scrotums.
          Thanks again,

Do they know first aid? Maybe the missionaries could pick up the slack for public school nurses.

$t. John$ County is cutting back its school nurses to one per school, instead of two.

Only bc the explosive growth in building schools in wealth af St Johns.

They ration nurses into the new schools and private St Johns nurses make $70k so they won’t work schools.

As a former St Augustinian, we watched/watching it now. PUDs upto 39 miles from town still being called St Augustine in address tho they are inches from 295…

The old adage applies in St. Johns: Too much of a good thing leads to traffic and other gridlock.

That said, there are many public schools in Florida who have not had school nurses ever — except for the occasional foray of volunteers screening for vision.

This is great news for the Association of Satanic Temple Chaplains, an association of which I am a member. Where do I sign up to volunteer?

  • Amen Armed Men

    February 19, 2024 at 10:59 am

Will these chaplains provide their own body armor for going into schools or will that be on the tax payer? Will these chaplains have their own firearms or will that also be on the tax payer? Will these chaplains have a license to kill whenever they see a troubled kid with a weapon in their school? How are they at building walls? Why not just build a wall around every school?
