Jaguars Prowler Uniform 15
'Everywhere I go and from every comment I read, it’s apparent our fans are longing to see Jaguars’ players in throwback uniforms.'

When the Jacksonville Jaguars host the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5 of the NFL season, things will look different than they have in decades.

The Jaguars revealed their “Prowler” uniform, an alternate look harkening back to the franchise’s glory days of the late ’90s. The team will wear the uniform for the first time on Oct. 6.

The uniforms include the prowling Jaguar on the sleeve, inspirational to the Jaguar statue that stands watch outside of EverBank Stadium.

The throwback uniforms are part of the franchise’s celebration of its 30th season.

Pro Football Hall of Famer Tony Boselli emceed the reveal, held outside of the Miller Electric Center, where the Jaguars will conduct training camp starting next week. The uniforms were also unveiled with a 90s throwback video featuring former offensive lineman Leon Searcy and current Jaguars’ defensive backs Tyson Campbell and Andre Cisco.

Also on Oct. 6, the Jaguars will induct Tom Coughlin into the Pride of the Jaguars, the team hall of fame. Coughlin was the first coach in franchise history and took the Jaguars to a pair of division titles and two AFC championship games. He went on to lead the New York Giants to two Super Bowl championships.

Coughlin was selected for inclusion last year.

When the Jaguars wear the Prowler uniform, it will be paired with the former Jaguars logo, which was modified after the 2013 season.

Jaguars fans have called for throwback uniforms to be included in the team’s options. In past seasons, the team has occasionally worn color-rush uniforms, typically all teal. However, in 2015 they debuted the infamous mustard yellow uniform in a game against the Tennessee Titans.

“Everywhere I go and from every comment I read, it’s apparent our fans are longing to see Jaguars’ players in throwback uniforms,” said Jaguars’ President Mark Lamping. “That persistence paid off and our uniforms reminiscent of the team’s early years are back by popular demand, just in time for the 30th season and, in particular, the Pride of the Jaguars induction of our inaugural head coach, Tom Coughlin.”
