Will voters in former U.S. Rep. Mike Waltz’s district “feel the Bern?” And Democrats are calling in national leaders Sunday to help push the party to a win.
That’s the hope of Democrat Josh Weil, who has earned the endorsement of the Vermont Senator and former presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and he’s got the backing of the Democratic National Committee Chair.
“Josh Weil is a working class father of two and a middle school teacher who knows what it’s like to live paycheck to paycheck. Unlike his opponent, he does not have any billionaire-backed Super PACs supporting him. Josh would be a voice in Congress who understands why we must protect Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid and not give massive tax breaks to billionaires,” Sanders said Friday.
Sanders added that Weil “understands that we have to keep our promise to veterans, wants to expand the trade union movement and believes that all kids deserve a quality education.”
Weil, a teacher, has surprised most observers by running a spirited campaign against state Sen. Randy Fine in Florida’s 6th Congressional District, who polling says holds a margin of error lead over the Democratic candidate.
He’s raised more than $10 million, and will enjoy support from DNC Chair Ken Martin this weekend. Martin and Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried who will have a joint press conference in St. Augustine.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump held a “tele-townhall” with Fine, Elon Musk put at least $10,000 into a text message campaign him, and even Ron DeSantis has dispatched political help.
For his part, Fine says it’s “no surprise” Sanders backs Weil.
“We’ve said this since the beginning — the contrast between myself and socialist Josh Weil cannot be more clear. While I will fight tirelessly in Congress for President Trump and his America First agenda, my opponent will lock arms with socialists Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Bernie Sanders to recklessly open our borders, cripple Florida families with trillions of dollars in new spending and tax increases, and put our families in the crosshairs of dangerous criminals and deadly drugs. I’m endorsed by President Donald J. Trump and Josh Weil is endorsed by socialist Bernie Sanders — the taxpayers of the Sixth District should vote accordingly.”

The only thing Bernie Sanders has going for him, is that he *SOUNDS* like a kind old mensch from Flatbush. But that illusion is entirely contained in the timber of his voice.
In reality, he’s a cold, calculating, manipulative, Socialist.
Vermont consistently ranks 49th or 50th in terms of economic productivity, despite it’s New England roots.
It’s a perfect example of natural beauty, wealth, & resources being squandered by Left-wing social policies.
Is that the kind of endorsement a Florida Politician needs or wants? Not unless the long term plan is truly nefarious.
