Prediction market finds Marco Rubio doubling Ron DeSantis in 2028 GOP nomination sweepstakes

DeSantis
How does America's Governor get back to the top?

It’s never too early to invest in the next presidential election.

And if you want to bet on a longshot, the Kalshi prediction market says there’s one currently in the Governor’s Mansion.

A Yes share for Ron DeSantis is priced to move, at 4 cents as of Saturday morning, down from 5 cents more recently.

To put that in perspective, he’s seen by investors as less likely to be the nominee for the Republican Party than Donald Trump Jr. (5 cents), Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin (6 cents), Secretary of State Marco Rubio (8 cents), Tulsi Gabbard and President Donald Trump (9 cents), and Vice President JD Vance (42 cents).

DeSantis does perform better than two other Florida men: talk show host Matt Gaetz and Rep. Byron Donalds. Each is at 1 cent for a yes share.

But the big story for DeSantis watchers looks to be Rubio, the ultimate utility player for the current White House, again besting him in a compare-and-contrast scenario involving candidates who could emerge.

A recent Atlas Intel poll also saw Rubio with double the support of DeSantis.

While other polls show DeSantis tied with or ahead of Rubio, what’s clear is that the aftermath of the 2024 campaign seems to leave the vast majority of Republicans seeing DeSantis as an also-ran.

The Governor’s Restore Our Nation PAC raised eyebrows this week by praising Elon Musk for having “stood tall and took the hits” to push DOGE reforms when serving with Trump. This scheduled messaging came before the explosive break between the Tesla impresario and the President this week, but suggests his political operation isn’t reading the room very well.

Many of us have been impressed with Marco. He’s done a great job so it’s not surprising he is moving up in the polls. Speaking of polls at this point, WHO CARES? They are usually off anyway and in many cases used to merely influence voter
    Participation.

      Good point Fog,
Marco has grown and matured greatly in his role of Secretary of State under Trump.
We’ve seen Marco speak to various issues now and I’m supprised at how well he handles himself in the spotlight under Trump.
The betting market is interesting to see where people choose to put their money.
I mainly favor Desantis for 2028 POTUS and enjoy promoting Ron here because it drives the leftist posters crazy.

Mr. Pitts: You are absolutely entitled to every bit of your always delusional and often entertaining bloviating. But do not believe for one moment that you drive the majority of us “leftist posters” crazy. We are much too politically sane to be bothered by Trumpist drivel and any misguided approbation for a failed fascist wannabe governor and his supremely tacky wife.

I do look forward to reading your posts, however, if just to see how far a field a mind can go when it embraces a cult or falls in political love with a thoroughly repulsive Republican goon.

Way way way too early for the polls to matter!
I supported DeSantis on day one of his campaign.
I’ll support him again when he chooses to announce.

Didn’t you forget “least likable” between the words “America’s” and “Governor”? My favorite memory of the 2024 presidential primary campaign was that he was “everybody’s favorite until they actually met him!”

Amazing that anyone utters the words Rubio or De Santis in the same sentence as “Presidential candidate” without the word NOT or some variation thereof. Never going to happen — even the looney tunes prefer Vance or some other moral hazard.

Who’s your candidate? Crockett, Tlaib, AOC, Newsom, Jayapal, Bernie? Clowns. All of them. Hilarious really.

Marco Rubio will have to explain his craven support for cutting off foreign aid that will result, ultimately, in tens or even hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths overseas. Trump, when called to defend these deaths, will blame them on Rubio.
