The Department of State reported Saturday that more than 6,600 vote-by-mail ballots have already been returned and more than 5 million others have been requested.
More people than ever are expected to cast absentee ballots for the first time, which could lead to an increase in the kinds of mistakes that typically would be caught by a scanner or election worker at the polls.
