Useful apps for political junkies

Regardless of how much you love politics, keeping up with recent political events can be overwhelming. Sometimes it feels like however hard you try you are always missing out on something.

Fortunately, there is a solution. This piece takes a look at some of the best political apps you should have on your mobile. Some of them have become as important as candy crush saga for casual games addicts and mobile slots for casino games players!

Countable

With this app, you will be able to see what representatives in Washington are doing.  The app is just one year old but it has grown in popularity very fast. It utilises location technology to link you with your personal representatives if you are based in the States. Using it, you can see what your member of Congress is voting on and read quick versions of bills before most people can set eyes on them.

Politifact

Tired of listening to lying politicians?  Politifact is an app that measures the truthfulness of politicians based on in-house research.  Using it, you can easily see who you should wholeheartedly listen to and those you should listen to with caution. The app has a feature known as the truth index which shows how honest individual politicians have been each day, based on the statements they have made.

PollTracker

This app aggregates all publicly available polling data and combines it in a regression analysis. It uses the results provided to produce averages, in-depth breakdowns etc. The app is useful because during political races it is often difficult to keep track of all the individual polls. Using the app you can easily see graphs showing different politicians’ polling over a period of time.  The app came into the spotlight in the 2012 presidential election and has remained useful ever since.

Sitegeist

Have you ever wished you could know what the people living down the street thought about certain political issues? This is the app for you. Powered by the Sunlight Foundation, the app draws on a collection of publicly available national information to show statistics about political positions in a certain area. With your location, the app will be able to display data on surrounding demographics as well as voting tendencies and political contributions in your area.  You can now know what your neighbourhood thinks about gun control.

C-SPAN radio

Do you want to be up to speed about the happenings in Capitol Building? C-SPAN radio is the app for you. With it, you can listen in on all congressional hearings as soon as Congress is in session. This will make it possible for you to follow federal lawmakers on subjects such as LGBT rights, immigration and indeed anything else that is being discussed in the house and senate.

With these apps, you will be more politically aware than you’ve ever been.
