On Thursday, Gov. Rick Scott announced eight appointments, including four reappointments, to a variety of state regulatory boards.
Florida Healthy Kids Corporation Board of Directors
Scott named two and reappointed two others to the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation Board of Directors, the organization that collaborates with Florida KidCare to provide health coverage for children ages 5-18.
Dr. Jose Armas, 31, of Coral Gables, is a physician for MCCI. He succeeds Dr. Judith Schaechter for a term ending June 30, 2017.
Cassandra Pasley, 49, of Tallahassee, is director of children’s medical services for the Florida Department of Health. She fills a vacant seat for a term ending June 30, 2017.
Dr. Peter Claussen, 65, of Panama City, is a self-employed pediatric dentist. His reappointment is for a term ending June 30, 2015.
Elizabeth Kidder, 44, of Tallahassee, is assistant deputy secretary for Medicaid policy and quality for the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration. Her reappointment is for a term ending June 30, 2016.
Scott then reappointed Marion Almy and Mimi Hardman to the Florida Historical Commission, the board that seeks to enhance public participation and involvement in both preserving and protecting the state’s historic and archaeological sites and properties.
Both reappointments are for a term ending December 31, 2018.
Almy, of Sarasota, is a registered professional archaeologist and president of Archaeological Consultants Inc.
Hardman, of Lake Wales, is the founder and executive director of the Depot Museum and the president of the Historic Lake Whales Society.
Scott also named Sandy Karlan to the Children and Youth Cabinet, an interdepartmental agency that seeks to ensure all children in Florida grow up safe, healthy, educated and prepared to meet their full potential.
Karlan, 66, of Coral Gables, is a retired administrative judge for the State of Florida 11th Circuit Family Division. She fills a vacant seat for a term ending August 27, 2015.
Florida Developmental Disabilities Council
Finally, Scott appointed Maryellen McDonald to the Florida Developmental Disabilities Council, a group advocating meaningful participation in all aspects of life for Floridians with developmental disabilities
McDonald, 63, of Tallahassee, is executive director of Disability Rights Florida. She fills a vacant seat for a term ending at the pleasure of the Governor.
