Jacksonville sheriff candidate Ken Jefferson has promised another endorsement at a significant local venue will come at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Last week, Jefferson held such an event at Memorial Park in Riverside where he delivered the most significant cross-party endorsement of this runoff season from Republican Jimmy Holderfield.
On Tuesday, Jefferson has set the stage for a “new endorsement” at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville at home plate. Expectations are, given the novelty of the setting, that the new endorser will have to measure up to the venue maximize its unique impact.
In the runoff, the race for sheriff has been a battle of endorsements. Two Republicans knocked out of the race by the First Election, Jay Farhat and Lonnie McDonald, have endorsed fellow Republican Mike Williams, along with U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis. Jefferson’s most significant endorsement has been Holderfield, but two more former primary opponents, Rob Schoonover and Tony Cummings, have yet to endorse.
We will be on the scene tweeting from and posting after the event.
