Ten days out from the Duval County Republican Party meeting where a new committeeman and new secretary will be elected, in the wake of the resignations of Lenny Curry and Bill Spann from those posts, and it seems like at least one of these elections will be a mere formality.
Alexander Pantinakis, 21, appears to be clearing the field of competition for committeeman if his all-star list of endorsers is any indication.
Former RPOF Chairwoman Leslie Dougher, former state committeemen Lawrence Jefferson and Deno Hicks, Republican Women Club of Duval Federated President Sharon Light, City Councilman and former Vice Chairman Sam Newby and UNF College Republicans President Dylan Lowe all support Pantinakis’ bid.
Additionally, a man whose name had been linked to a possible run, former Duval GOP Chairman Rick Hartley, has endorsed Pantinakis’ bid.
“Alexander is mature beyond his years. He has proven that he can remain civil while others around him are losing their minds, all the while standing firm for our principles,” Hartley wrote in an email endorsing Pantinakis’ bid.
Meanwhile, word is that a similarly strong candidate has emerged to run for secretary: Mellanease Clark, who was one of the more tireless volunteers working on behalf of the Curry campaign and the local GOP during the just concluded election.
