State inspects Planned Parenthood facilities, results unknown

Planned Parenthood says Florida health officials have inspected its 16 facilities, but state officials have not released the results.

Florida Alliance of Planned Parenthood Affiliates Executive Director Laura Goodhue told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the inspections were conducted Thursday, one day after Gov. Rick Scott said he was troubled by videos describing the organization’s procedures for providing tissue from aborted fetuses for research.

The Republican governor warned he would take quick legal and regulatory action should any Florida facilities be found in violation.

Goodhue said she was not told the outcome on the inspections but was confident they will confirm the organization provides high quality health care. She has dismissed the attacks as political, noting Florida does not have a tissue donation program.

State health officials said the investigations are being finalized, noting they would release further details at that time.
