As part of his campaign to replace U.S. Rep. Ron DeSantis in Northeast Florida’s Congressional District 6, Adam Barringer has followed suit with other fiscal conservatives and signed a pledge to under no circumstances raise taxes.
The two-term former mayor of New Smyrna Beach said in a release such a pledge just makes sense.
“As a small business owner and former mayor, I know that lower taxes will lead to more prosperity,” Barringer said.
The pledge, written by the pro-business Americans for Tax Reform, reads:
I pledge to the taxpayers of the state of Florida, and to the American people that I will: One, oppose any and all efforts to increase the marginal income tax rates for individuals and/or businesses; and, Two, oppose any net reduction or elimination of deductions and credits, unless matched dollar for dollar by further reducing tax rates.
The move comes one day after 2nd Congressional District candidate Mary Thomas — who is running for U.S. Rep. Gwen Graham‘s seat likely to be drastically altered by redistricting — took the same pledge.
