FDOT Jax Coastline Drive reinspection set for Dec. 21

During the Jacksonville budget process earlier this year, Mayor Lenny Curry and Council President Greg Anderson rolled out a plan to remedy the issues created by collapsed, end-of-life bridge spans on Liberty Street and Coastline Drive.

The $37 million rebuild is slated to take the next two fiscal years to complete; however, monthly inspections of the area are being conducted by the Florida Department of Transportation.

An email from Public Works Director John Pappas notes the FDOT will be Re-Inspecting Coastline Drive December 21st.

“We were again fortunate during the November Inspection,” Pappas observed, “as the FDOT report noted continued deterioration but no change to load restrictions.  We are very focused on getting the alternate drive in place before further Coastline Drive restrictions are mandated and need to get started quickly.”
