Lenny Curry channels Calvin Coolidge in Xmas message

Lenny Curry

In a Christmas email to city employees, Jacksonville Mayor Lenny Curry led off with a quote from “Silent” Calvin Coolidge.

“Christmas is not a time, nor a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas.”

From there, Curry went on to reflect, briefly, on the holiday season.

“Christmas is my family’s favorite time of the year. It affords us the opportunity to gather together with loved ones to share goodwill and peace. Some of our best family memories are those created during the holiday season,” Curry observed, before pivoting to recognizing his “City of Jacksonville family.”

“As I complete my fifth month as mayor, this year’s holiday brings even more meaning as I reflect on my time and work with each of you — my City of Jacksonville family,” Curry wrote, adding that it is his “sincerest wish that the holidays gift each of you with the opportunity to renew your spirit, strengthen friendships, cherish family, and create memories that last throughout the year.”
