In the wake of incumbent Fred Costello filing to run in Congressional District 6, Deb Denys announced her intention Friday to replace him in House District 25.
“I’m proud to announce my candidacy to bring genuine conservative leadership to Tallahassee. My passion and commitment for public service has always been motivated by a desire to make Volusia County, not just my district, the best place to live, work and raise a family,” Denys, a current District 3 Volusia County councilwoman, said.
“I have worked tirelessly to make government more accountable and transparent while maintaining the responsibility to provide quality services as efficiently and effectively as possible while always acting with the utmost integrity. As a champion of economic growth and job creation, I will continue to fight to expand the commercial aerospace market in Volusia County with the goal of bringing in higher wage jobs for our citizens.”
Denys was elected to the County Council in 2012 and was re-elected in 2014. She previously was elected to the Volusia County School Board, spent four years as Vice-Chair of the Volusia County Children and Families Advisory Board, and was the Chair of Early Learning Coalition for Flagler and Volusia for five years, appointed by two governors.
