Email Insights: Lenny Curry team calls Alvin Brown a “Clinton Crony”

One of the arguments the Lenny Curry campaign has made in recent weeks is the overt linkage of Alvin Brown to Hillary Clinton. In a mass email sent Thursday morning with three calls to action designed to drive donations to the Curry campaign, that case is again made explicitly that Alvin Brown is a “Clinton Crony.”

“Hillary Clinton is looking to take control of our country in 2016. But if we don’t do everything we can to win this runoff, she’ll regain control of our city in less than a month,” claims the email, linking a Brown re-election to  Clinton “regaining” control of Jacksonville.

The email describes Brown as a “puppet for the Clintons,” pointing out his work in the Clinton White House, as a campaign adviser for Hillary 2008, and as a maximum contributor to that campaign, while recycling James Carville‘s speculation that Brown could be a “top choice” for a Cabinet position in a Hillary Clinton administration.

“The Clintons have been out in force, hoping to ensure their loyal follower stays in charge of Florida’s biggest city — just recently Bill Clinton was at the Jaguars stadium for a fundraiser for Alvin Brown,” the email contends, adding that “it would work out perfectly for [Hillary] to have her former employee sitting in the mayor’s seat of Florida’s biggest city.”

The Curry campaign and the Duval County Republican Party have been reminding voters of the Clinton/Brown connection frequently of late. Given the endorsement of Curry by former Jacksonville Mayor John Delaney Wednesday, expect that theme to make its way into emails as the weekend approaches.
