A mailer from the Republican Party of Florida touts Lenny Curry as a “unifying conservative with a plan to fix Jacksonville,” and its centerpiece is a message from former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who wants Republicans to vote by mail for the Jacksonville Republican for mayor.
Citing his frequent travels to Jacksonville, which Bush describes as a “special part of our state” with “tremendous potential to be a national leader in so many areas,” Bush says that fulfilling that potential will require “strong new leadership” in the form of Lenny Curry, a “principled conservative leader and the right choice to restore Jacksonville’s greatness.”
Citing Curry’s plan to reduce crime by reinstating police officers cut under the current administration, Curry’s experience as a small-business owner with the experience to create jobs and expand economic opportunity, his desire to improve education (with a focus on proper funding of Pre-K programs), and Curry’s advocacy for the Second Amendment, Bush describes the Republican mayoral candidate as someone who will “fight for our conservative values” and someone who “truly loves Jacksonville.”
The call to action involves requesting a vote-by-mail ballot. To that end, two vote-by-mail request cards are included in the mailer.
The mailing also includes a list of Curry’s major endorsements “for his conservative leadership,” which include virtually every meaningful Republican in the state, along with national figures such as Rick Perry. As well, his endorsements from the Fraternal Order of Police and the National Rifle Association are included.
As a poll we reported on this week indicates, the race between Curry and incumbent Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown is within the margin of error, suggesting that endorsements like this are expected to matter down the stretch.
