Republican voters think Donald Trump will be their party’s nominee, according to a new NBC News|Survey Monkey tracking poll.
Trump continues to lead the Republican field in the national poll, with 35 percent of Republican and Republican-leaning voters saying the supported him. Ted Cruz is in second with 20 percent, followed by Marco Rubio with 17 percent. None of the remaining GOP hopefuls break double digits in the NBC News|Survey Monkey poll.
Forty-two percent of respondents said they thought Trump would be the eventual Republican nominee. Cruz followed with 31 percent, while 18 percent said Rubio would be the nominee.
On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton leads Bernie Sanders 51 percent to 39 percent.
The NBC News|Survey Monkey Weekly Election tracking poll was conducted from Feb. 1 through Feb. 7 with a national sample of 10,707 adults over 18, including 9,690 who says they are registered to vote.
