The five-way Republican primary for the House District 12 race has lacked a clear narrative for months, and January only presents a more muddled picture.
The big question: Is Richard Clark still in the HD 12 race? Despite raising no money again in January, and only $2,000 since the end of April, Clark is still winning the money race with $50,500 raised.
Clark spent $2,600 in January: $500 to Data Targeting, and $2,100 for six months of accounting services. The latter is nice work if you can get it, given the utter stasis of the campaign of Clark, currently a six-figure lobbyist for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority.
The big mover: Clay Yarborough, who like Clark is a former two-term Jacksonville city councilman.
A $14,000 January pushed Yarborough’s total up to $28,560, with a negligible spend thus far during his three-month campaign.
Among the max donors: John Rood and Vestcor, as well as Mac Papers.
Missing from Yarborough’s reports thus far: significant PAC money.
Mark Maclean, a newcomer to the race, so far is mostly self- and family-financed. His $2,000 in contributions during his first month of fundraising had a lot of Maclean surnames in the mix. Don Redman, despite getting $200 from Tim Tebow‘s dad, has about $8,000 on hand after more than a year of fundraising.
Terrance Freeman filed to run on the first of February, and his March numbers will be worth watching.
