Marco Rubio returns to Iowa for the first time as a declared presidential candidate

Marco Rubio (1)

Last week it was Nashua, New Hampshire. Tomorrow, Waukee, Iowa.

Waukee is the site of the next GOP presidential cattle call, where Marco Rubio will make his first appearance in the Hawkeye State since officially declaring his candidacy for president earlier this month. He’ll be joined by at least seven other presidential hopefuls who will speak at the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition.

Ted Cruz, Carly Fiorina, Mike Huckabee, Bobby Jindal, Rand Paul, Rick Santorum and Scott Walker are all scheduled to speak at the event, which takes place at the Point of Grace Church on Saturday night. They’ll be given 15 minutes a piece, with the speeches beginning at 7 p.m. eastern time.

Although organizers say the candidates are free to talk about anything they want, the Iowa Faith & Freedom Coalition is a conservative nonprofit group that “pushes for integrity in government, high moral values, constitutional authority and Christian principles,” according to the Des Moines Register.

Rubio is also scheduled to attend an ice cream social at the home of Iowa state Senator Jack Whitver‘s home. He’ll also visit the editorial board of the Des Moines Register and meet with local business and political leaders.
