Word is that it’s going to take a few million dollars to market the Discretionary Sales Surtax referendum, to extend the Better Jacksonville Plan sales tax until 2060 to deal with the unfunded pension liability, to Jacksonville voters.
With that long game in mind, the fundraising reports of Build Something That Lasts, Lenny Curry‘s PAC, are required monthly reading.
February saw Build Something That Lasts raise just over $49,000, while spending $35,154. All told, the PAC has raised just under $515,000, while spending just under $221,000.
Interesting February donors and donations include $2,000 from Ben Davis, of Intuition Ale Works and the city’s Planning Commission. The Fiorentino Group, Vestcor, and John Rood are also donors this month.
The most interesting donation? $5,000 from Money Pages of Florida. This relationship suggests that there will be ads for the sales tax referendum, at some point, amidst the coupons for discount oil changes and BOGO fast food items, as part of the sales job to the public.
The most interesting expenditure? $25,025 to the obscure Better Government Leadership Fund… which is more than the $23,000 that PAC has raised through January.
A phone call to the 202 area code number associated with the PAC got a “temporary outbound recording line” prompt to record an outbound message.
Despite the DC phone number associated with the PAC, most of the Better Government Leadership Fund’s activity is centered in Flagler, Palm Coast, and Bunnell.
