The super PAC backing Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez-Cantera said Thursday that it has brought on Virginia Haworth, a veteran of the Gov. Rick Scott administration, as its new finance director.

The Auburn University alumna joins Meredith O’Rourke, herself a former Scott staff member, and a team of fundraisers at pro-Lopez-Cantera committee Reform Washington, which had raised just shy of $1 million for the lieutenant governor’s Senate campaign when it filed its most recent finance report in December.

“We are extremely excited Virginia is joining our team,” said committee chairman and former House Speaker Dean Cannon. “She brings with her experience, relationships and contacts that will undoubtedly elevate our team and our goals this election cycle exponentially.”

Haworth has been with the Scott machine since he ran for governor in the 2010 cycle. After Scott’s victory, she accepted a post in his appointments office, eventually working her way up to the Governor’s Director of Appointments.

Most recently, she worked for Scott’s political committee, Let’s Get to Work, where she also held the title of finance director. That committee, and its electioneering communications predecessor, raised more than $100 million for Scott since 2010.
