University of North Florida Board of Trustees meetings will look more like a City Council reunion going forward.
On Thursday, Gov. Rick Scott announced three appointments to the board. Two of the three are former presidents of the Jacksonville City Council.
Stephen Joost, a two-term Republican councilman who notably endorsed Alvin Brown in the mayoral election, was appointed. Kevin Hyde, another two-term Republican, also got the nod.
Hyde is a partner with Foley and Lardner, and Joost is best known in the private sector for his work with Firehouse Subs.
Joost and Hyde have terms until Jan. 6, 2021.
Additionally, Wilfredo Gonzalez, 72, district director of the federal Small Business Administration, was appointed. His term expires Jan. 6, 2020.
