Come to Zolfo Springs for the barbecue; stay to listen to the Republican candidates for U.S. Senate.
Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam‘s political committee, “Florida Grown,” is hosting the annual “Friends of Florida Agriculture Barbecue” on Saturday, at Peace River Valley Ranch in Hardee County.
The ranch is about a five-hour drive from Tallahassee, an hour and a half from Tampa, and nearly four hours from Miami.
GOP contenders Ron DeSantis, a northeast Florida congressman; Lt. Gov. Carlos Lopez–Cantera; and Todd Wilcox, a Special Forces and CIA veteran, and businessman, are scheduled to attend, according to a news release.
Each candidate will make remarks, then take part in a question-and-answer session led by Putnam, a Republican who is widely expected to run for governor in 2018.
The event is noon to 3 p.m. The ranch is located at 1445 Ben Hill Griffin Road in Zolfo Springs. Tickets are $25 per person and $50 per family.
To register in advance, send an email to [email protected].
Florida Grown was “established by Putnam to help achieve his vision for Florida – a place where jobs are plentiful, quality education is accessible, and freedom and liberty flourish,” the release said.
