On Monday, the re-election campaign of 4th Circuit State Attorney Angela Corey trumpeted another in a series of key endorsements, this from Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler.
Corey, well ahead in the money race against primary opponent Wes White, has scored establishment endorsements by the dozens, including from Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams and his predecessor, CD 5 frontrunner John Rutherford.
“Angela Corey is the ultimate crime-fighting partner for Clay County, and I am proud to support her for four more years as State Attorney,” Sheriff Beseler said. “Angela and I have worked together for three decades, particularly in her eight years as State Attorney while I’ve been Sheriff. She is dedicated to keeping our community safe and will do absolutely anything she can –including taking difficult cases to trial – to get justice for victims’ families.”
“Sheriff Beseler and I have worked hand-in-hand fighting crime for 34 years and it’s a special privilege to have his support,” Corey said.
Beseler was re-elected in 2012 with 82 percent of the vote, but he will not be running for re-election.
