The National Nurses United, the nation’s largest registered nurses union, has endorsed Susannah Randolph in her bid for the Democratic primary nomination in the Orlando-based Congressional District 9.
The nurse’s union cited Randolph’s commitment to some of its organized labor goals, but also praised her positions on issues ranging from jobs to veterans.
“She not only shares our values of caring, compassion and community, Susannah is committed to mandatory minimum nurse staffing levels,” Marisa Lee, board member of NNOC/Florida and a member of National Nurses United stated in a news release issued by Randolph’s campaign.
“She has demonstrated a unique ability to achieve real results for Floridians. Susannah’s work creating jobs in our community, protecting workers from wage theft, and being a leader for climate action now, pay equity and vetoers, prepares her well to stand up for people of the Ninth Congressional District,” Lee added.
Randolph faces state Sen. Darren Soto of Orlando, bioresearcher Dr. Dena Minning of Orlando, businesswoman Valleri Crabtree of Kissimmee and state Rep. Ricardo Rangel of Kissimmee in the Democratic contest. They all seek to succeed U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson of Orlando, who is running for the U.S. Senate rather than for re-election.
“Nurses are our community’s most trusted advocates. Whether they are protecting public health care or promoting patient safety, nurses are our lifeline,” Randolph stated. “I am honored to have the support of NNU. When I am elected to Congress, I will work tirelessly to ease high medical bills, expand access to education, protect healthcare, and solve the social and economic problems that Americans face every day.”
