HD 13 incumbent Reggie Fullwood is running for re-election unopposed, yet the Jacksonville Democrat’s hardest battles this year appear to be in courts of law.
Fullwood faces federal charges on 10 counts of wire fraud and four counts of failure to file federal income tax returns, and now he has a circuit civil case to go along with it.
On Friday, Fullwood was named as a defendant in an auto negligence case. Plaintiff Steven Spurlock has retained an attorney from Harrell and Harrell, the high-powered local law firm to represent him.
However, Fullwood says it is a case of mistaken identity, as he is being confused with another Reggie Fullwood, even as the address listed on the court filing is the representative’s.
“That is me! I haven’t seen it. I have no idea what that is. I haven’t been in an accident in years,” Fullwood said.
“This may be an attorney looking for the other R. Fullwood and my info is public so they made an assumption. I have had these issues before with the child support administration sending me letters assuming I’m the other guy,” Fullwood added.
“I’m Reginald N. – the other guy is Reginald K.,” Fullwood added.
There will be a jury trial for this case, should it get to trial.
We reached out to Spurlock and Spurlock’s attorney for comment Saturday morning, but have gotten no response thus far.
