The list of North Florida nonprofits taking part in the grassroots effort #GiveLocalJax is growing, say the effort’s organizers.

On May 3rd, a 24-hour online crowdfunding event is set for groups seeking to raise funds for everything from education and social services to LGBT equality, animal welfare, seniors, the homeless, and more.

The one-day online giving challenge, supported by the Association of Fundraising Professionals, is designed to not only encourage local giving, but is timely given the scant public resources available for a slew of unfunded causes and needs across a city struggling with massive pension debt.

You can pick your nonprofit, donate, and spread the word via hashtag and tweet, by visiting www.givelocaljax.com.
