Kathleen Passidomo has received enough signatures to secure a spot on the ballot.
Passidomo announced Thursday she received enough verified signatures to qualify for the Senate District 28 race. The Naples Republican said it marked a milestone for her campaign.
“I’m truly grateful for our team of volunteers and supporters who worked hard to help me qualify for the ballot. It’s clear that my conservative message is resonating in District 28, and this is a testament to the grassroots coalition that we’ve built,” she said in a statement. “Though this is a major milestone for our campaign, there’s still work to be done. Our team will continue knocking on doors and meeting with voters to ensure that Southwest Florida elects a true conservative who knows our community and understands our needs.”
Passidomo was first elected to the Florida House in 2010. She faces Matt Hudson, a Naples Republican and a state representative, in the race to replace Sen. Garrett Richter.
The newly drawn district includes all of Collier and Hendry counties, as well as southern Lee County.
State records show she received 1,555 verified signatures. She needed 1,552 to qualify for the ballot.
The official qualifying period for legislative races runs from noon on June 20 until noon on June 24. No Democrat has filed to in Senate District 28.
